Halloween Horror Nights 2026 at Universal Studios Hollywood: Mazes, Tickets & Survival Guide

Yes, it’s over the hill. Yes, the 101 at 6pm is its own horror maze. And yes, it’s still worth it: Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood is the biggest, best-produced scare event in Southern California, and the 2026 edition — running select nights through November 1 — might be the strongest lineup in years. Here’s everything in it, what tickets actually cost, and the Westsider’s plan for doing it right in the final three weeks.

The 2026 Lineup: All 8 Mazes

This year’s houses swing from prestige horror to pure camp, which is exactly the right mix:

Stranger Things 5 drops you into the Upside Down against Demogorgons and the Mind Flayer — expect this one to pull the longest lines of the night, all night. Hellraiser delivers Pinhead and the Cenobites’ nightmarish rituals for the classic-horror faithful, and Evil Dead Burn keeps the Deadite chaos (and the fake blood) flowing. Sinners — based on the vampire hit — recreates a 1930s Mississippi juke joint where the guitars scream and the guests get bitten.

On the showman side, Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness walks you through a decaying world ripped from Ozzy’s lyrics — a genuinely affecting tribute — while Killceañera: Music by Slash unleashes Latin American folklore monsters on a vengeful quinceañera with an original Slash score. Killer Klownz from Outer Space brings the cotton-candy cocoons, and Dead, Deader, Deadest tours the Deville Family Funeral Home, where a resurrection drug has gone exactly as badly as you’d hope.

Beyond the houses: the Terror Tram starring Art the Clown (the Terrifier menace hijacks the backlot tour), six scare zones including FORTNITEMARES and El Circo de la Muerte, and The Purge: Dangerous Waters stunt show.

Tickets: What It Actually Costs

Single-night admission starts at $77 and climbs on peak nights. The add-ons are where the decisions get real: Express (skip-the-line once per maze) starts at $249, Unlimited Express at $289, the After 2PM Day/Night combo — daytime park plus the event — starts at $117, Frequent Fear Passes run $179–$299 for multi-night addicts, and the all-inclusive guided RIP Tour starts at $439.

Our honest take on the math: on an October weekend, base-ticket lines for the headline mazes can eat your whole night — you’ll see maybe four houses. If you’re going once and want to see everything, Express hurts the wallet and saves the evening. The budget play is a less crowded night (Thursdays and Sundays) with a 7pm sharp arrival, rope-dropping Stranger Things first while everyone else is still parking.

The Westsider Survival Plan

Beat the drive. From the Westside, leave by 4:30pm or embrace the After 2PM ticket and make a full day of it. The move veterans swear by: arrive early, and let the parking structure crowds thin while you eat — because event-night food lines are their own scare zone.

Dress for it. It’s shorts weather in the valley at 7pm and genuinely cold by 11pm — layer up. Closed-toe shoes, no masks (they’re prohibited for guests), and pack your patience for the Terror Tram, which is slow-loading but worth one ride for the backlot at night alone.

Pick your night. With the event wrapping November 1, the remaining Thursdays and the final Sunday are your least-crowded shots. Halloween night itself lands on a Saturday this year and will be a madhouse — if that’s your vibe, commit fully; if not, our Westside Halloween guide has a full Saturday of closer-to-home options, from Montana Avenue trick-or-treating to the WeHo Carnaval.

Make It a Whole Evening (or Recover the Next Day)

Scare nights demand fuel: hit a Santa Monica happy hour before braving the 101, or line your stomach properly at one of the best restaurants in Santa Monica on a non-event night and save HHN snacking for the themed food stands. And when you stumble home at 2am, tomorrow’s recovery brunch is already planned — see the best brunch spots in Santa Monica.
